Comparative study of heat transfer enhancement using different fins in semi-circular absorber tube for large-aperture trough solar concentrator

An improved evacuated absorber tube (AT) design consisting of a semi-circular is proposed for large-aperture parabolic trough concentrator. The also contains flat-plate radiation shield in the vacuum part glass cover. To enhance heat transfer AT, different fins geometries added to bottom AT were analyzed here. Compared an without fins, thermal efficiency could be increased from 75.7% 76.9% with short and thick fin 77.3% long thin flow velocity range 0.4–1.5 m/s. finned shows better enhancement transfer, but performance factor accounting frictional losses higher fin. Simultaneously, increasing number would not improve much performance.
